About the Society

The Indian Society for Study of Animal Reproduction (ISSAR) was established in Nov, 1972 during FAO follow up seminar on animal reproduction at Bangalore. Dr C.R. Sane was the founder president of the society with a total of 26 members in 1972. The first symposium was organized in 1977 at PAU, Ludhiana. Thereafter, annual convention cum national or international symposium is being organized regularly. The life membership has reached to more than 3500 in 2024. The society publishes its official journal, Scopus indexed “The Indian Journal of Animal Reproduction” (IJAR) biannually (June and December). 

The objectives of the society are: 

a) To promote scientific knowledge in teaching, research and extension in animal reproduction.

b) To organize National/International symposium at regular intervals throughout India.

c) To publish official journal/proceeding of the society and to institute awards/endowment/fellowship to ISSAR Members and other dignitaries.
