The interrelationship between progressive motility percentage and intracellular acrosin activity in pre-freeze and frozen thawed buck spermatozoa using different cryoprotective agents was studied. Ejaculates showing high initial motility were extended in extenders containing glycerol, DMSO, glycerol + DMSO and glycerol + lactose as cryoprotectants. Semen samples were evaluated just after equilibration and 24 hours after freezing for progressive motility and intracellular acrosin activity. A positive and significant correlation between progressive motility and intracellular acrosin activity was found when all the semen samples were pooled together
(irrespective of extenders). The same correlation was also noted in the semen samples extended in the extenders having DMSO as cryoprotective agent.
