Abstract

Dystocia due to abnormal fetal presentation is a common obstetrical problem in bovines and can lead to fetal mortality if not managed promptly. Umbilical cord abnormalities such as twisting may compromise fetal circulation and result in intrauterine fetal death. The present rare case report describes the successful management of dystocia due to breech presentation and delivery of an intrauterine dead male fetus due to umbilical cord torsion in a crossbred Jersey heifer.
